ABOUT

We, Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity, Incorporated, are an educational and non-profit organization of men of whom have committed ourselves and our lives to The Lord GOD to provide Christian Leadership Training and to helping our communities to be a place of positive growth in excellence:  spiritually, mentally, physically, socially, and academically.

We are a Christian Fraternity for brothers in Christ that have decided to run the race of excellence with the desire to join and work with other men to achieve the goal of providing men with the Spiritual & intellectual values needed for a successful academic and professional career, family, and life as a whole.  In doing and achieving this in and with the Love of Christ; we become--and help other men to become--real men after The Lord GOD's Own Heart.

To achieve these results, we use the Three Pillars of: Fellowship, Evangelism, and Discipleship.

Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity, Incorporated was founded on March 21, 1988--on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas--and incorporated on March 16, 1994. The original the initial founders--those we affectionally refer to as The Catalysts of G Phi D: Kelvin C. James, Curtis Campbell, Rodney Walker, and Dwight Burns--conceived the idea to form such an organization, due to the lack of a Christian organizations for college educated men on the diverse campus at that time.  It was not to long afterwards that Brothers Luis Lopez, Eric Wilson, David Porter, Derek Riley, Jeffrey Holmes, James Lee, George Floyd, Michael Satterfield, Alex Bird, Bernard Jackson, Ikless Pettiet, and Melbourne McDonald joined the initial founders in the vision.  These 12 young men along with the original Catalysts--went on to found the Christian Fraternity of Gamma Phi Delta and have now become known, affectionately, as the Sixteen Visionaries.

The Fraternity originally began as a fellowship and Bible Study among some of the Christian men and women on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. As time progressed, the urge by many of the Visionaries to pledge a fraternity grew. After attending various interest meetings and parties of the various fraternities established on the campus at the time, the Visionaries all agreed to hold fast to their Christian morals, standards and beliefs; however, they also still wanted to experience what has become such an intricate part of college life--being part of a fraternity. After much thought and planning, the idea of a Christian fraternity became reality in the spring of 1988.

During the Spring of 1988--in the "Upper Room" dining area of Jester West Residence Hall--a meeting was held to discuss the possibility of the forming of a Christian Fraternity.  It was during this semester--under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in the month of March 1988 that Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity was founded and the foundation of The Fraternity was laid.  It was during the month of April in the year of our Lord 1988; after several organizational meeting were held--that Gamma Phi Delta Christian Fraternity was conceived and the first officers were elected.
